Having a good courtroom lawyer on your side is important, but having a trusted advisor is, too.
We’re employment lawyers, and that’s all we do. We have deep backgrounds in employment law and human resources, and we use that background to help our clients make decisions.
Our firm exists to do more than sue people. We do that, but we also do much more, because having a good courtroom lawyer on your side is important, but having a trusted advisor is, too.
We don’t just view clients’ issues as legal problems. We see them as important transition times in their lives and careers when they need support and guidance. So we take the time to understand what our clients are facing.
We explain to our clients how managers think, how human resources departments work, and why their managers may be treating them in certain ways. We help them understand who in their company to ask for help, whom to negotiate with, and what to say to them. And we understand our clients’ concerns about their own reputations. We help them to decide when a lawsuit is appropriate, and what it will mean for their career. Doing all of this helps us to help our clients to make difficult decisions and avoid burning bridges unnecessarily.
Unlike many employees’ lawyers, we know how large law firms and large companies work because we used to work for them. We understand their strategies and their motivations—and they respect us for that. Many of our clients choose us precisely because they value that knowledge and understanding.
Our philosophy also includes avoiding certain things that we’ve found can get in the way of good results:
